The F80 has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Mustang GTD doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.
Both the F80 and the Mustang GTD have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and driver alert monitors.
The F80 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Mustang GTD’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the F80 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Ford doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Mustang GTD.
The F80’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 369 more horsepower (1184 vs. 815) than the Mustang GTD’s 5.2 supercharged V8.
On the EPA test cycle the F80 gets better fuel mileage than the Mustang GTD (15 city/20 hwy vs. 10 city/17 hwy).
Regenerative brakes improve the F80’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Mustang GTD doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ferrari F80 higher (5 out of 10) than the Ford Mustang GTD (4). This means the F80 produces up to 5.2 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Mustang GTD every 15,000 miles.
All wheel drive, available in the F80, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Ford Mustang GTD is not available with all wheel drive.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F80 has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the Mustang GTD.
The F80 offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Ford doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Mustang GTD.
The Ferrari F80 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1000 pounds less than the Ford Mustang GTD.
The F80 is 3 inches shorter than the Mustang GTD, making the F80 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The F80 is 10.7 inches shorter in height than the Mustang GTD, making the F80 much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).
To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the F80 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Mustang GTD doesn’t offer cornering lights.
The F80’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. The Mustang GTD doesn’t offer heated side mirrors.
Both the Ferrari F80 and Ford Mustang GTD offer exterior mirrors that can be folded to provide convenience. The F80 features standard power folding mirrors, which allow for easy, one-touch folding or unfolding at the driver’s discretion. This provides added convenience when maneuvering or parking, as well as when walking past the parked vehicle. In comparison, the Mustang GTD’s foldable mirrors are manual, requiring the driver to get out and physically fold them once parked and unfold them before getting in.
To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the F80 has a standard Adaptive CruiseControl, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Mustang GTD doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Ferrari F80 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The Mustang GTD doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
