The F80 has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Vanquish doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.
Both the F80 and the Vanquish have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and driver alert monitors.
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the F80 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Aston Martin doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Vanquish.
The F80’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 360 more horsepower (1184 vs. 824) than the Vanquish’s 5.2 turbo V12.
On the EPA test cycle the F80 gets better fuel mileage than the Vanquish Coupe (15 city/20 hwy vs. 13 city/21 hwy).
Regenerative brakes improve the F80’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Vanquish doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ferrari F80 higher (5 out of 10) than the Aston Martin Vanquish (2). This means the F80 produces up to 20.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Vanquish every 15,000 miles.
The F80 offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Vanquish doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.
All wheel drive, available in the F80, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Aston Martin Vanquish is not available with all wheel drive.
For better traction, the F80 has larger tires than the Vanquish (F:285/30R20 & R:345/30R21 vs. F:275/35R21 & R:325/30R21).
The F80’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Vanquish’s standard 35 series front tires.
The F80 offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Aston Martin doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Vanquish.
The Ferrari F80 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 850 to 1050 pounds less than the Aston Martin Vanquish.
To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the F80 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Vanquish doesn’t offer cornering lights.
